Features

Benefits

Small groups of 12

Large enough for audience feedback; small enough for individual attention and lots of practice.

Two Days

Minimum time out of the field; enough time to practice the skills and see real improvement.

Team of two experienced trainers

Adults learn best from those who have "been there."

Focus on presentations' “signal to noise ratio” as a metaphor

Presentation weaknesses identified as “noise,” become easier to correct.

Multi-media examples from leaders in science and technology

Reinforcement of the importance of powerful communication in science

19 small- and large-group exercises; 10 videotaping sessions

Participants practice and see themselves as others see them in a variety of speaking situations. They can identify personal strengths and desired changes while they observe their progress.

Stop-action coaching (strategic intervention with suggestions and support by instructor)

This coaching speeds learning through immediate feedback.  Ineffective habits are eliminated and effective patterns are incorporated. Participants experience and view a range of style options.

Private personal video coaching (six sessions per person)

Individuals can identify strengths and specific steps to improve with in-depth personalized attention to their own unique style.

Practice-based instruction

People learn by doing, so they build confidence by visibly changing behavior. They learn at the "muscle memory" level.

Interactive workbook

All information is provided for in-class use and follow-up review. All coaching sessions are recorded for future reference.

Personal video cassette for each participant

Reinforces skills; useful to track and build upon improvement.

Training materials from
the world of science and
technology

Technical people learn quicker and with more enthusiasm when examples are familiar.

Logical step-by-step
approach

Key concepts are easier to master.

Quarterly E-Tips

The learning continues each quarter as new and innovative, research-based articles are sent to HighTechSpeaking® graduates.

CD ROM eSource
(includes two video
movies, two books, and
online course)

Participants continue the learning long after the in-class time ends.
